Since 1984 these have been strictly regulated in Alsace. Chaptalisation is prohibited and the wines may not be sold until 18 months from the date of picking the grapes, after thorough complete analysis and organolectic tests.
These are exceptional wines that symbolise the patience of wine growers in exceptional climatic conditions and that permit the selection of overripe and especially botrytised grapes (noble rot).
Les Sélections de Grains Nobles

  • Riesling - Cru d'Alsace GRAFENREBEN
  • Pinot Gris - Grand Cru SONNENGLANZ
  • Gewurztraminer - Grand Cru SONNENGLANZ

The main differences between Vendanges Tardives and Sélection Grains Nobles are that the grapes for the latter mature at different times and are separated at harvest: only botrytised grapes are selected for these wines, which can certainly be kept for 20 or 30 years, or even longer.
